West nile virus has been a cause of major concern through out the world especially during the warm-weather months of spring and summer season. As there is no vaccine for West Nile encephalitis, you must be aware of the necessary precautionary measures that should be adopted to prevent infection. The only way to protect you from west nile virus is preventing yourself from being bitten by an infected mosquito by reducing the number of mosquitoes around your surroundings or by protecting yourself with a natural mosquito repellant.

Oh, I wish this was published elsewhere! No, I mean my first in-depth piece of independent journalism, doing extensive background research, interviewing many experts in the field (I think I had around 9 interviews). Usually I report on stuff already in the news that I would like to draw my reader's attention to, or choose a hot topic and then report on all the recent stuff going on about that particular issue. This was the first time where I interviewed doctors, pathologists, ecologists, etc; got quotations, and wrote about something that has never been reported on in the news before.

I'm curious what you mean by your first work of independent journalism... was this published somewhere other than on your blog? If not, then don't you write several pieces of independent journalism a week?

This article is very good, by the way.

Do you know if other disease carrying mosquitoes (malaria, yellow fever, etc) could also spread to northern latitudes?
