Announcements!

Time for a few announcements:

Last Monday, Oh, For the Love of Science! turned four. Hooray! Happy birthday, little blog.

Last Tuesday, The Best Science Writing Online 2012 was released. I’m honored to be included in the anthology, and had a wonderful time at the release party. Science-lovers, please go buy this book! I’ve only gotten the chance to read the first third of the book, but it is FANTASTIC. I’m enjoying seeing all of the authors’ different styles, and reading about new areas of science I might not have otherwise read about. (I’m looking at you, physics.)

This Saturday, I will be giving a talk at the New England Aquarium. The event is part of the free lecture series, where I will be speaking to the public and the participants of the Teen Ocean Summit about scientist stereotypes and careers in science. If you’re in the Boston area, come on down!

Lastly, my session proposal was accepted for ScienceOnline2013! Katie Pratt and I will be moderating a session called “The Public Face of Science”, which will explore ways to shed the geeky stereotype so that science careers are more appealing to kids, and how scientists can improve adults’ understanding of science. The full program can be found here, and there is still time to have your name entered in a lottery for the remaining open registration spots.
